"A Bid to Save the World"

Rorschach Theatre, September 2016

By Erin Bregman, Directed by Lee Liebeskind
Much joy bringing Nate Sinnott's beautiful design to life with paint and Spanish moss.
(When the play was being worked at Source Festival 2014, I was the props designer. Participating as a painter was much more within my comfort zone.)
Staged in the round with three different settings coming out of a central, grassy point. The set was mostly constructed and painted in the scene shop at Georgetown University (while closed for summer), then loaded into the Sprenger black box at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.

Ryan Maxwell Photography Production Still with Michelangelo Wall- the most challenging and rewarding bit of this design for me.

Progress shot of the floor before wrapped for transport.

Detail of floor, this was my favorite section- reminiscent of rust-stained concrete being reclaimed by nature with moss and roots.

Ryan Maxwell Photography Production Still with Library Wall. Faux wood graining is one of my favorite low-stress tasks, but after a while…

Detail of the Afterlife flooring. Progressively more tarnished and rustier concrete broken by shiny faux wood flooring.
