Longacre Lea, August 2018

An astronaut travels back to her childhood home to confront her dead parents, but finds the house crowded with visitors from across spacetime.
"An intriguing, singular exploration of love, loss, and aging." - The Washington Post
Written & Directed by Kathleen Akerley
Set Design by Elizabeth Jenkins McFadden, whose brightly colored, splashy designs are my favorite to paint.

Celestial grid floor- it was a challenge to maintain clean, straight lines while also letting go with spatter-painting, but so fun and rewarding to bring to life

Production Still- the giant TV had a rear projection screen to add video elements to the show.

Process Shot- these bad boys made handwriting sanskrit go a lot more quickly and smoothly than brush painting.

Process shot- a healthy appreciation for the scribe who originally carved The Code of Hammurabi into stone.

Floor detail- I love how celestial spatters can resemble splashing water. Serene, yet exciting.

Process Shot- Stage Left Floor detail, where patrons enter theater

Process Shot- Basecoat. With celestial spattering, the first step is to lay in a dark, cool basecoat and work your way up to bright warmer layers.

Process shot- laying in darker tones to delineate the grid.
